MERENGUE PROMENADE SWIVELS (See Video)

A lively skirt-swirling pattern, the Merengue Promenade Swivels pattern is showy and fun and popular with both partners.

Gentleman's Part - The Gentleman starts the pattern, in a normal dance hold, with a fifth position. Then steps to the side with his left foot, facing the Lady. He swivels on his left foot, steps through with his right foot. This he does for a count of "1, 2". He then repeats the sequence for "3, 4 and 5, 6", moving in the same direction, and ending with a side together for "7, 8".

Lady's Part - The Lady starts the pattern, in a normal dance hold. The Gentleman leads her in a fifth position. She then steps to the side with her right foot, facing the Gentleman. She swivels on her right foot, steping through with her left foot. This she does for the count "1, 2". She then repeats this same sequence for "3, 4 and 5, 6", moving in the same direction, and ending with a side together for "7, 8". See the Video on how to do the Merengue Promenade Swivels.
