This Intermediate Salsa pattern is fun to do and easy to learn. The key to doing successful Swivels in Salsa, or in any dance, is to stay on the balls of your feet and swivel only from your torso. You don't want to get your shoulders involved. They should remain still. Use your ab muscles to swivel.
The Salsa can be counted "1, 2, hold" (the "hold" being the "3, 4" count), then "5, 6, hold" (the hold being the" 7, 8" count.) Or sometimes is counted (as in our Salsa Video) "1, 2, 3" (the "3" and silent "4" being the "hold") then "5, 6, 7" (the "7" and silent" 8" being the "hold.")
Gentleman's Footwork - The Gentleman begins with one full Salsa basic step. On the second half of the basic (5,6,hold), he begins to lead his partner into a Cross Over Break. He steps
Lady's Footwork - The Lady begins with one full Salsa basic step. On the second half of the basic (5 6, hold) the man will lead a Cross Over Break. She steps into the Cross Over Break for "1, 2, swivels to the right for "hold", facing her partner. She swivels to the left for "5", to the right for "6" and to the left for "hold". The man will lead her in a Cross Over Break for "1,2,". She repeats the swivel, to the right for "hold", swivel left for "5", right for "6", swivel left for 'hold". She does another Cross Over Break for "1, 2", facing her partner, and the Gentleman leads an Underarm Turn to finish.
