Greg has been teaching dance for 7 years. He enjoys teaching ballroom because he likes "seeing people do something they thought they couldn't, and I enjoy seeing when they do get it." Originally from Texas, Greg likes Kansas City because "there is always something to do somewhere and it is friendly here."He hopes to teach his ballroom dance students how to have fun, relax and know enough to get around the floor without stepping on each other."
Greg's favorite dance is the Cha Cha and his favorite color is green. His ideal vacation spot would be "anyplace with sand and water." His perfect weekend would be "to relax with friends, have a nice dinner, watch cheesy movies and sleep!!!" Greg's pet peeve is "hypocrisy."He enjoys "pigging out" on "anything with cheese," and likes listening to top 40 dance and pop music," and his favorite singer or group is "anything from the 80's -- the best decade for music."
Greg attended Arkansas State with a major in music and dance. Also attended Northwestern State in Louisiana on a theatre/dance scholarship. He chose to teach ballroom rather than go into more formal dance because he wanted to "relax, have fun and show off a little." If Greg could choose another occupation it would be acting, He has worked professionally in children's theatre (teaching acting) and regional theatre, as well as a few touring productions. Greg feels he gets a lot of the "theatrical" teaching dance at TC. He lists his "other talents" as "anything to do with a video camera -- editing, producing, filming and audio visual communications. His favorite pastime is watching and collecting old TV shows and movies -- especially DVD's. He has all 10 seasons of "Friends" and collections of the "Brady Bunch," "Roseanne", "What's Happening", as well as many others. He describes himself as a "TV junky." "
Greg's family is in Arkansas near Little Rock. His dad is retired from the Federal Aviation Administration, his mother is a homemaker and his sister is a nurse. " He says the 3 words that best describe his personality are funny, easygoing and down to earth. "Most people don't know that I have Cystic Fibrosis or even what that is. Only about 30,000 people in the US have it -- a genetic disease that mainly affects the lungs and digestive system. Being a dance teacher is a great way to stay on top of it, along with plenty of sleep, a decent diet, and many medications/treatments. There is currently no cure for CF but the gene has been identified and great strides have been made in research and treatments.
