RIGHT SIDE FANS IN TANGO
(Intermediate)

Gentleman's Footwork - Starting with his left foot the man steps forward for "1" count, steps side with his right foot for "2". At the same time he swivels his right foot and his hips for a quarter turn to the left, but he keeps his frame forward to his partner. For his third step he steps back on his left foot, in the same line that he did his side step, this is called "contra body" position. He steps for the "3 count and holds for "4".

He then steps forward, still in the contra body position, on his right foot for the "5", collects (closes) his feet and holds for the "6" count. The gentleman then repeats this series of steps, stepping forward with his left foot for the count of "7.", side step for "8" on his right foot again swiveling his right foot and his hips for a quarter turn

Now he steps back on his left foot for "1" and holds for "2", and again he is in contra body position. He steps forward out of this position for "3", holding for the count of "4". Now to finish, he does a "tango close." This is done by stepping forward on his left for "5", a side step for "6" and he drags his left foot to close slowly to his right foot for the count of "7 & 8"

Lady's Footwork - Starting with her right foot, she steps back for the count of "1", steps to the side for the count of "2", at the same time swiveling to her left, but keeping her frame toward her partner. She steps forward for the "3" count and closes her feet. On "4" the lady, swivels to promenade position. She steps forward with her left foot for "5", closes her feet and swivels back into starting dance position for "6". Now she steps back on her right foot for "7," stepping side on her left foot for "8", with a swivel on the same count.

The Lady steps forward on her right foot for the count of "1" and collects (or closes) her feet on the "2" as she swivels to promenade position. Then she steps forward for "3" on her left foot and again she closes and swivels back to starting dance position on the "4". Now she is lead into her "tango close," which is back on her right for the "5" count, a side step on her left for the "6" and she drags her right foot to close slowly to her left foot for the count of "7 & 8".
