American Tango - Right Side Fans Pattern
TC Dance Club Kansas City

American Tango is a dance of drama and of sharpness in movement, and the Tango always tells a story of passion. The Right Side Fans pattern is a good example of this. The pattern employs what we call "contra body" position. On the second step of the pattern the man turns his lower body a quarter turn away from his partner, while keeping his frame toward her. The gentleman's contra body position allows him to set up to lead the lady in the swiveling motion of the right side fans and enables the quickness of her turn.

Tango in its style and character is always intense and passionate. It embodies the the love-hate, pursue-and-resist struggle between man and woman. When the dance partners bring this attitude and style to their Tango, the dance takes on an extra dimension and their dance is enhanced greatly. The video shows the footwork for the Right Side Fans in Tango, for both the gentleman and for the lady. It also talks about the style and attitude that add so much to this exciting dance.
