TANGO PROGRESSIVE ROCKS (Intermediate)
TC Dance Club Kansas City

One of the most popular Intermediate Tango steps, the Progressive Rocks pattern is a showcase for both partners. Remember that "progressive" means "moving forward", so the Gentleman, as the leader, should always keep his momentum doing just that, moving forward. The Lady, whose step is the natural opposite of the Gentleman's, will concentrate on backward momentum. The Gentleman should look ahead, not at his partner. The Lady stays to her left, focusing over the Gentleman's shoulder and keeps her head out of the way.

Video 1 first shows you what the Progressive Rocks pattern looks like, with the correct count. Then we see the footwork for the Gentleman's part, and then the Lady's footwork, both done in dance position. Video 2 shows you the Progressive Rocks pattern done to music, plus Video 2 features an exciting alternative pattern, the Tango Shadow Rocks. This pattern also uses the same progressive action.
