The Basket Pattern in East Coast Swing is a favorite of beginning and advanced dancers alike. While it is easy for the man to lead, it looks good and shows both partners off well. The Basket can be done in all three of the timings or rhythms for East Coast Swing - single time, double time and triple. Our video uses triple time. The video shows not only the Basket itself, but how the gentleman gets set for his lead into the Basket and how he leads his partner out of it and is ready for further patterns.
Video 1 first shows you what the Basket Pattern looks like, then breaks it down for the gentleman's footwork and then the lady's footwork. Video 2 demonstrates why if the partners rotate as they are doing their basic step and patterns, this rotation adds style and interest to the dance. Video 2 will then show you what the Basket Pattern looks like when danced to music.
