The very popular West Coast Swing is a dance that can be done to a wide variety of music -- country, blues, contemporary. The dance allows for a lot of personalized steps and improvisation. West Coast Swing has two basic steps. One is very similar to the East Coast Swing basic step, the other basic is called the Sugar Push. In dancing West Coast Swing the two basic steps are used in conjunction with each other, or interspersed between patterns. In West Coast Swing the man's and lady's steps are often quite different
Video 1 will show the 2 basic steps. First we see the gentleman's steps described as he dances with the lady, then the video breakds down the man's individual footwork for the two basics. Secondly, we see the lady's steps described as she is lead by her partner. Video 2 continues by showing the lady's individual footwork broken down and then we see the West Coast danced to music, showing the use of the 2 basic steps plus many more advanced patterns and turns.
